Muhammad Ali & Gary Coleman
“The doctors told us that even if they had done surgery on him, he would’ve died,” Price said in a videotaped statement to TMZ. “He would’ve bled to death during the surgery. Even if they did take a chunk out of his brain, he would not be the same. He’d basically be like Muhammad Ali … I mean, Gary was gone.” (Ali suffers from Parkinson’s disease, which causes tremors and slurred speech.)
-Shannon Price – Gary Coleman’s (ex?) Wife
I’m thinking Muhammad Ali and most other late-stage Parkinson’s sufferers might disagree with Shannon – they’re not “gone”. Ali still gives fascinating and coherent interviews even though he has great difficulty communicating.
Even though I know Coleman was an inspiration to many and left his mark on television and culture, I wish he’d felt more personal fulfillment in his life. If anyone did, he deserved a “comeback”.
His (ex?) wife, Shannon Price should be truthful with Coleman’s family and the police (if they’re interested), but I wish she’d not drag Ali into this, or suggest that those with Parkinson’s disease are brain dead.
Somebody needs to find her a “media representative”.
